The Minutes of the General Body Meeting of Indian Catholic Community held on 11.3.2006

The Poduyogam:

General Body Meeting of the Indian Catholic Community, Vienna, was held at the SSP Hall, Schwarzspaniergasse 15, A-1090 Vienna, on 11th March 2006, in order to discuss the topic on the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the ICC.

The ICC Community, which was officially constituted in 1982 as one of the foreign language Catholic communities in the Archdiocese of Vienna, consists of all Malayalees belonging to the three Rites of the Syro Malabar, Syro Malankara and Latin Churches in Kerala.

Main points discussed:

A Retreat for the spiritual renewal of the Community,  a souvenir, a mega cultural programme and a concluding Solemn Liturgy are in view of the Jubilee celebrations.

Retreat & Recollections:

Regarding the nature of the Retreat, it was suggested to get the pulse of the community either for a Eucharistic type or for Charismatic type of retreat. Half day recollections and other spiritual revival activities, pilgrimages could be organized during the Jubilee year.

Jubilee Year:

It was also suggested and agreed upon to announce a Jubilee Year, starting from October 1, 2006, with an opening ceremony and concluding in October 2007.

During the Jubilee year, invitations would be sent to all the previous Chaplains of the ICC to participate in the Jubilee Celebrations. Heads of the Catholic Church Communities from Kerala will be given invitation to visit us at any time during the Jubilee year, or preferably to join us in our concluding celebrations.

Appropriate Competitions could be organized in sports/games, artistic/ literary areas at inter-European levels. Artistic and Cultural programmes could be sponsored according to the availability of the artists.

The expenditure would be met by a Jubilee fund raised by individual contributions from the ICC Community, of at least  50,-  per family.  That was the  unanimous opinion of the general body.

A Jubilee Committee consisting of the present Parish Committee, the former  Chairmen/General Coordinators from 1982 onwards, together with other interested persons and  volunteers,  was suggested in order to plan and to carry  out  programmes of the  Jubilee Celebrations.
